Fire Protection Associate at Michael Baker
M.Eng in Fire Protection Engineering

I received my Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering from India. My Dad being a Fire Protection Engineer; I had the right background to pursue a Masters in Fire Protection Engineering (FPE). When I joined The University of Maryland I was not sure what to expect from the course, the teaching staff, and the University. But after being paired with a great advisor and great teaching staff, I was already making progress academically. One thing I always liked about the FPE department and the Maryland Applied Graduate Engineering (MAGE) was that they were very flexible about the courses I wanted to take and always suggested the right courses based on my interests. I ended up learning more than I expected to from my Master's program and got a great Fire Protection job at Michael Baker International where I get to practice what I love. I am thankful to UMD and the FPE department for giving me this opportunity to learn and progress in my professional life.

Why Maryland?

UMD from what I heard was always a great university to begin with, and everything about it proved to be true when I actually started my Master's program. The Fire Protection Engineering Department at UMD is one of the best and it became obvious when I got to learn so much about FPE from the great teaching staff that the department has. Not only is the coursework at UMD great, but the social activities that are held at UMD are just awesome. Two years at UMD helped me advance as a professional, as well as on a personal level.
