M.Eng in Cybersecurity

Spending the first 18 years of existence just outside of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Chris joined the United States Navy and served as an Intelligence Specialist and Cryptologic Technician for eight years across the east coast serving in various capacities until finally settling down in Ellicott City. Chris thoroughly enjoys learning and always feels like there is something else to learn; his quest for knowledge has resulted in a myriad of IT certifications including: CompTia's Security+, Network+, GIAC's GSEC, GCIH, GPEN, GREM, GCFE, GCFA, GMOB, and GASF. In his free time, he enjoys running, biking, hiking, painting, playing board games, soccer, reading science fiction, writing and relaxing with his loved ones.

Why Maryland?

I chose Maryland because I wanted to be exposed to parts of cybersecurity that I didn't already see on an everyday basis, and with professionals who are still out in the field. Too many schools try to push a cybersecurity policy program, but the real "meat-and-potatoes" comes down to skills and analysis. College Park did just that for me. Whether it was cloud security, penetration testing, blue team operations, or reverse engineering, College Park had the right professor there to teach. I only hope Maryland continues to grow as these fields advance, and stay on the cutting edge of these cyber disciplines.
