I am very thankful for the high quality of UMD's on-line infrastructure
Chris Everett
Lead Risk Assessment Engineer at Idaho National Laboratory
M.Eng in Reliability Engineering
I have spent my professional life supporting system safety and risk assessment in the areas of nuclear weapons production and spaceflight. Before coming to the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) I worked for Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) and Information Systems Laboratory (ISL). My main clients have been the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
Why Maryland?
I was already a UMD alumnus so I was familiar with the university's strong reputation and close ties to NASA. Through my NASA relationships I already knew or was acquainted with a number of the UMD staff. From a practical perspective, I live in New York City so UMD's on-line degree program made the whole thing possible. I am very thankful for the high quality of UMD's on-line infrastructure that made it possible to have a brick-and-mortar educational experience from my home.
