Admission Requirements

Requirements specific to the mechanical engineering program include:

  • A bachelor's degree, GPA of 3.0 or better, in a STEM field from an accredited institution.
  • Successful completion of all of the following courses (or their equivalent):
    • Math: Calculus I, II, and III, and Differential Equations
    • Engineering: Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, and Heat Transfer
  • Program specializations also require completion of the following courses (or their equivalent): 
    • Energy & the Environment: no additional courses beyond those listed above
    • General Mechanical: Dynamics, Strength of Materials/Structural Mechanics, Vibrations, and Controls

Degree Requirements

Master of Engineering: 30 Credits or 10 Courses

Students pursuing a Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering must choose between two areas of study: General Mechanical or Energy and the Environment. The standard course plan for each consists of five core courses and five technical electives as outlined on the degree planning sheet here (General Mechanical) and here (Energy and the Environment).

Any non pre-approved technical electives must be approved by MAGE prior to registering. There is no research or thesis required for this degree.

Graduate Certificate in Engineering: 12 Credits or 4 Courses

Students pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Engineering in Mechanical Engineering must choose between two areas of study: General Mechanical or Energy and the Environment.
