Admission Requirements

Requirements specific to the materials science and engineering engineering program include:

  • A bachelor's degree, GPA of 3.0 or better, in a STEM field from an accredited institution.
  • Successful completion of all of the following courses (or their equivalent):
    • Math: Calculus, I, II, and III
    • Chemistry: General Chemistry I with Lab (CHEM 131 and CHEM 132)
    • Physics: Fundamentals of Physics I & II (PHYS 121 and PHYS 122)
    • Engineering: Thermodynamics, and Solid State Physics

Degree Requirements

Master of Engineering: 30 Credits or 10 Courses

Students pursuing a Master of Engineering in Materials Science are required to take three Materials Science core courses and seven technical electives as outlined on the degree planning sheet here.

Any non pre-approved technical electives must be approved by MAGE prior to registering. There is no research or thesis required for this degree.

Graduate Certificate in Engineering: 12 Credits or 4 Courses

Students pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Engineering in Materials Science are required to take three Materials Science core courses and one technical elective as outlined on the degree planning sheet here.
