Required Application Process
Any non-MAGE student, interested in pursuing a MAGE-offered Graduate Certificate in Engineering (GCEN) along with their Master’s degree, please complete the request form here.
Deadline to submit the application form is 4 weeks before the first day of classes.
- Important: MAGE will not submit GCEN graduation/conferral verification documents to the Registrar for students who have not gone through the application process.
Upon completion of the request form, MAGE will review your academic eligibility, including the general eligibility guidelines below, to pursue a GCEN with MAGE. If it is determined that you are generally AND academically eligible to move forward with the GCEN, you will then receive information regarding the next steps in the process.
General Eligibility
- Must meet the admission requirements of the requested GCEN
- Must have completed at least one full semester in your current program
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and a passing grade in all individual courses
- Must have approval of primary program
- Must have already fulfilled any required UMEI005 and/or UMEI007 and/or any other English provisions successfully
IMPORTANT Policies - Please note the following
- Prior to filling out the request form, be sure to discuss your interest in pursuing a GCEN with your primary program. When completing the application form, you will be required to have the contact information and email of your primary program’s advising office, as they will have to sign off indicating their approval and support of earning a GCEN.
- The GCEN is a separate degree and the 4 courses comprising it MUST have a 3.0 GPA in addition to the cumulative GPA of the Master’s degree.
- Students cannot receive a GCEN in the same area of study as their M.S. or Ph.D. degree.
- MAGE cannot guarantee registration in the 4 courses comprising the GCEN curriculum.
- Taking a course on campus, students will be charged tuition and fees according to the rates of their primary program. Taking a course online, students will be charged the MAGE tuition rates, detailed here.
