Graduatehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HH_REYX7Ya8Pending RetirementData ScienceThe purpose of this course is to teach some of the best and most general approaches to get the most out of data through clustering, classification, and regression techniques. Students will gain experience analyzing several kinds of data, including document collections, financial data, scientific data, and natural images.
This is not a purely machine learning course. You won’t be asked to complete proofs or do integrals. You do need to be comfortable with some notation (sums, variables). You will need to perform basic arithmetic and algebra. It is very helpful that you enter the course with some programming experience. While we do some review at the beginning of the course of programming in Python, it is helpful to come into the course being comfortable with assigning objects to variables, the concepts of functions, and working with conditional statements and control structures including if/while/for.
Each assignment will require a small amount of digging into data using the software language Python. This software is free and open source software and is available for all major operating systems. The assignments will take the form of applying already-implemented algorithms to data to understand the processes involved and answering questions to test understanding. Use of Python is included within the course and homework can be submitted in either Python or R language, if you prefer.Electrical & ComputerRoboticsSoftware
