Hello all, my name is Aakash Raman and I am pursuing my Masters in Cybersecurity in Fall 2022. I am an International Student from India but have completed my entire schooling in Malaysia and have stayed there for 19 years. My passion is to make the world safer and play my part in contributing to this endeavor. That is why I wanted to pursue both my Undergraduation and Graduation in Information Security. Over the years I have made numerous friends and tons of memories. I love to sing, travel, read thriller/fantasy novels, swim, and watch all the classic sitcoms!
Why Maryland?
Pursuing a Masters Degree is always a tough decision to make, especially for International Students, because of the number of well-ranked colleges, ample job opportunities, and jumping into a happening industry/domain. What excited me to pursue my Masters at MAGE in UMD was the curriculum in Cybersecurity that stood out as compared with other colleges.
As Cybersecurity is a very dynamic field, changes in technologies are quite common, and grasping a strong foundation in the most generic but important subjects is the need of the hour and I found only MAGE's curriculum does that. Other than that, the Professors, Job Opportunities for Cybersecurity in the Maryland, Virginia & DC areas also piqued my interest in joining UMD. A couple of my friends from Undergraduation are also pursuing the same course and I heard very positive reviews from them too!
