Shikha Mehta
M.Eng. in Cybersecurity
I have graduated with a Master’s in Cybersecurity at the University of Maryland, with a strong foundation in information technology from my undergraduate studies. My experience spans roles in security analysis, web development, and secure software automation. I’ve contributed to organizations like SwiftSafe, Reliance Jio, and Pristine Info Solutions, where I worked on everything from automating risk reporting and alert triage to penetration testing and endpoint security.
Outside of formal roles, I’ve built and documented multiple hands-on security tools and firewall management systems using PowerShell, Python, and cloud services. I’m passionate about DevSecOps, threat detection, and using AI to secure infrastructure. I’ve also completed several cybersecurity simulations with global companies like Tata, AIG, and Mastercard and maintain a top 1% ranking on TryHackMe.
With certifications like Security+, DevSecOps, and Offensive Pentesting, I’m committed to becoming a well-rounded cybersecurity professional, blending offensive and defensive skills.
Why Maryland?
I chose Maryland because it has a strong reputation in cybersecurity and offers a good mix of hands-on courses and research opportunities. The location near D.C. also opens up a lot of career options, and I liked how industry-connected the program felt.
