Earn a Graduate Certificate in Engineering (GCEN)

Not interested in earning a full master’s degree? Earn a GCEN in one of our academic areas by completing the 4 course curriculum through MAGE. Of our 18 academic areas, 12 GCEN’s can be completed entirely online.

Students who complete a GCEN have the option of completing 6 more courses to obtain a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) degree in the same academic area by reapplying for that program*. All 10 graduate courses must be completed within 5 years to be considered towards the completion of an M.Eng. degree.

*Students wishing to change academic areas from the GCEN to an M.Eng. can meet with an Academic Advisor to determine which previously taken courses could be utilized towards that new area.

Earn an INCOSE Certification through completion of ENSE621

Students who successfully complete ENSE621 with a grade of B+ or higher can bypass the INCOSE knowledge exam, a key step towards becoming an Associate Systems Engineering Professional (ASEP) or a Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP). While completion of ENSE621 waives the exam requirement, candidates must still submit an application documenting their years of experience. After gaining the necessary experience and maintaining their ASEP status, individuals are eligible to upgrade to CSEP. Following completion of ENSE621, INCOSE will receive notifications about the students who completed it. Further instructions on how to proceed will be provided during the class.

ENSE621 is a core course for the professional graduate engineering programs in Systems Engineering.

Only interested in completing one course? Learn more about the process and requirements to become a Non-Degree Seeking Student through the Graduate School at UMD. Non-Degree seeking students taking ENSE621 on-campus will be charged graduate tuition and fees based on their in or out of state status. Non-Degree Seeking students taking ENSE621 online will be charged the MAGE Online tuition.
